The 2022 Math4NL Community Event will take place on November 4th in ProRail office the Inktpot in Utrecht.
Keynote speaker is Dirk Hartmann, who is among many other things a Siemens Technical fellow and thought leader in the field of Simulation and Digital Twin. He will speak about Executable Digital Twins.
During Pitch & Discuss speakers from the industry and academic field will pitch their case and/or question. In an open space set up you will then be invited to connect with the speakers and other participants to discuss the case and share ideas to solve the question.
Keynote speaker: Dirk Hartmann
Dirk Hartmann is an industrial mathematician, Siemens Technical Fellow, intrapreneur, and thought leader in the field of Simulation and Digital Twin. Among many distinctions, he received the prestigious Werner-von-Siemens Top Innovator award 2019 for his life-time achievements and the Siemens Inventor of the Year 2021 award. Multiple of his innovations have led to novel products and services and have been showcased at top-level innovation events.
In his career, Dirk took several leading roles in research, innovation, and development across Siemens including the lead of a multi-million Siemens R&D program and the technical leadership for the Simulation & Digital Twin field at Siemens Technology with more than 120 scientists across the globe. He is a passionate mentor, teacher, and supervisor for the next generation of innovators and experts exploring novel Digital Twin solutions for all industries.
Keynote speech: Executable Digital Twins - Integrating the digital and real world

We live in a world of exploding complexity with enormous challenges. Digital twins, tightly integrating the real and the digital world, are a key enabler for decision making in the context of complex systems. While the digital twin has become an intrinsic part of the product creation process, its true power lies in the connectivity of the digital representation with its physical counterpart.
To be able to use a digital twin in this context, the concept of executable digital twins has been proposed. An executable digital twin is a stand-alone and self-contained executable model for a specific set of behaviors in a specific context. In this presentation, we review the concept of executable digital twins, address mathematical key building blocks such as model order reduction, real-time models, state estimation, and co-simulation and detail its power along a few selected use cases.
